Coming Soon
At Howlies we understand that dogs want to play but it is just as important that they rest, especially our younger and older family members.
Therefore we introduced our play and rest policy.
Everyday the staff work closely with the dogs and we have a timetable built in where we take the dogs out of the field and place them in a secure crate so they can have a resting period. Some dogs do not rest very well in a crate in the lunch hut so we may take your dog out on a short drive in the van to encourage them to rest, its all for the good of the dogs and we put them in the place where they have the best possible chance of resting ready for some more exciting play :)
We do also have warm, comfortable sleeping mats inside but a lot of the dogs prefer to have a quick snooze on the grass or outdoor areas instead, it's all down to where the individual dog wants to be and feels comfortable.
Young pups and senior dogs are identified and have a different resting schedule with more frequent rest periods encouraged.

Yes, all dogs are temperament tested before they join so that we can be sure they are friendly and their behaviour is always monitored and recorded. Staff are trained in canine care and first aid and health records are completed and sent home daily.
We also have a link to a local vet should the need arise.
We accept boy dogs who haven't been neutered up to 9 months of age, after that a dog would have to be neutered in order to keep attending Howlies. If a dog is showing hormone led behaviours at a younger age, then they may be stopped from attending until they are neutered but we would discuss this with you if the situation arises.
Girls don't have to be spayed but cannot attend whilst they are in season.
No, at Howlies we realise that needs change, sometimes on a daily basis, and we do our best to accommodate this.
We accept regular customers and ad-hoc customers, our business works to help you, so please send us a message and we can discuss your individual needs.
As part of our insurance we are permitted to enter people's houses and hold keys for them. Houses are securely locked and double checked and all address details are kept safe and secure at all times.
We have a separate medical area and work closely with the vets at Companion care as well. If your dog is sick, you will always be the first point of contact unless it is in an emergency.
Before a dog can be given a place at daycare, we invite you and your dog down for a free temperament test. This is basically a play session where the daycare dogs are introduced slowly to your dog so we can see how they react in a group situation. All our staff are trained to look for signs of anxiety in dogs and we can explain this to you if you would like us to do so.
At Howlies we charge 50% of the daycare fee for late cancellations. This is to cover staffing costs as our license dictates how many staff we have to have working in relation to the number of dogs on site.
Notice which is less than 24 hours will be charged at this rate.
We use an online booking system called kenner booker. Once your dog has passed their temperament test they will be added to the system and can then be booked in by the customer for adhoc days or by us if a regular day is wanted.
We don't have a license for overnight boarding unfortunately but a quick google search will help you find some fabulous local places that do :)
As part of World Mental Health day 2020 we made an offer on Facebook which still stands now.
It is well known that being around dogs can help to reduce anxiety and depression, therefore if anyone is struggling and would like to spend a few hours in the field with us and the dogs please do send us a message and we can arrange for you to come along 😊
We work closely with local high Schools and colleges to provide the very best work experience we can, there is a tailored programme in place to keep students motivated and learning whilst they are with us.
In addition to dog day care, we also offer professional grooming services for your pup. We can arrange for your dog to be groomed while in daycare with us. Our experienced groomers will keep your dog looking and feeling their best.
The Groom Shack also welcomes customers who are not daycare members.
To book in message us on 07920619845 or visit our The Groom Shack Bedford facebook page.
Unfortunately over the years of being open, we have both customers and dogs pass away. We are a family business and did not want these family members to be forgotten so have created our Memorial Garden for dogs and customers over the rainbow bridge so that they can still be a part of Howlies moving forward.
Type Howlies into Google maps (don't use the postcode as it's too vague).
That will take you to a farm entrance with lots of signs and we are down the slope and in the bottom right hand corner of the farm where the reddy brown huts are.
